LHO History
In Nov 2021 Pastor Kendricks and Calisha Johnson got a vision from God to start a new ministry in Bunkie. This ministry would be an outreach ministry built on Gods guidance and Jesus as our message. The name of the ministry would be Living Hope Outreach Ministry. This ministry would house many ministries to help our community. After a few years, a group of people within the congregation decided it was time to create a non-profit organization that could open more avenues for us to be a blessing to the community. This was the creation of Living Hope Outreach 501c3 Non-Profit organization in April 2023. We sat down in a group to not only set up board but to talk more importantly about what would be our goal. As we talked there were so many things we wanted to do because we noticed there were so many areas of opportunities in our community. We discussed many different areas we would love to operate under. What we discovered is that the individuals in the group had different passions. Pastor Kendricks would always say that we need to do something that would effect the entire family. After many prayers and discussions God gave us the vision that each of us are leaders and we should each spearhead a branch of the ministry operating under the Living Hope Outreach 501c3 Non-Profit umbrella. Each leader would bring their vision to the board. Each leader would implement their vision, research info for their vision and support their vision from start until we can no longer.
We began working to build a relationship with the community. Living Hope Outreach sponsored a Little League girls softball team where Pastor Kendricks and Calisha coached. From there we began to connect with the school system. We have joined the PVO (Parent Volunteer Organization) where moral and beautification was the goal. Family involvement was especially important, so we began to do things that helped the parents. We have done financial seminars, credit repair and home ownership. In our community teenage pregnancy and single parent household have been on a rise. So, we first decided to start a young lady mentoring group and two years later started a young man mentoring group. With these groups we have weekly sessions, quarterly trips, or events. We are in close partnership with the parents and often tell them to use us as a part of their parenting tool. We have been a part of back-to-school events, in school events and out of school events.
